Description
Awlgrip Wash Primer CF is a chromate-free etching primer that provides excellent paint adhesion to aluminum, anodized aluminum and stainless steel surfaces. Wash Primer CF is not suitable for use on wood or plastic surfaces. It can be overcoated directly with Awlgrip, Awlgrip HS and Awcraft 2000 topcoats.
This chromate-free etching primer is based on “Controlled Fusion” (CF) technology. CF technology is a unique chemical system that allows for extended overcoating times, eliminates the need for sanding before applying the next coat, and provides excellent substrate adhesion. CF technology eliminates the requirement for high-hazard chemicals and ensures a tightly bonded intercoat layer between the CF-based coating and the next coat.

Recommended liquid film thickness: 2 – 4 mils (50 – 100 microns) per coat with conventional spraying
Recommended dry film thickness: 0.25 – 0.5 mils (7 – 13 microns) per coat with conventional spraying

Overcoatability (At 77 degrees F/25 degrees Celsius, 50% RH): With topcoat/primers it is 1 hour (minimum). Maximum recoating time, without sanding, is 6 months. Cleanliness check recommended.
Wash Primer CF will soften when overcoated with solvent based materials. Full hardness and adhesion develops 2 weeks after Topcoat application.
