Description
Sikaflex®-290 DC PRO is used for watertight joint sealing in traditional wooden decks - in boats, ships and yachts. The product should only be used by professional users. Experiments should be carried out on real substrates and under real conditions to verify the adhesion provided and the compatibility of the product.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGES
Highly resistant to ageing due to environmental stresses
Durable and robust
Easy and quick polishing
Excellent application properties
Long finishing time available
Unsurpassed finish
Resistant to salt and fresh water
Surface preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from traces of grease, oil and dust. On wood surfaces, the application of a primer such as e.g. Sika® Multiprimer Marine is required. Additional substrate preparation such as perimeter sealing of the deck depends on the exact type and nature of the substrate. Therefore, recommendations are determined by the preliminary tests to be carried out.
APPLICATION
For satisfactory results the product should be applied with suitable equipment such as pump, air gun, battery etc.
Sikaflex®-290 DC PRO can be applied at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C although variations in application properties and curing speed of the product should be taken into account. The optimum temperature of substrate, environment and sealant is between 15°C and 25°C.
Removal of residues
Removal of fresh residues from application tools and equipment can be carried out using Sika® Remover-208 or other suitable solvent. Cured and/or cured material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be cleaned immediately with special wipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H or suitable hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin!
