Description
The Frigoboat Keel Cooler is similar to a regular thru-hull fitting. It's threaded 1-1/2" thick shaft passes through the hull and a nut is threaded onto the shaft and tightened. This requires a large wrench and enough clearance for the wrench to swing. It also requires a helper to restrain the unit from rotating on the outside of the vessel as the nut is tightened.
A Frigoboat Keel Cooler acts as the condenser for the system. The R134a refrigerant is circulated by the compressor, down through tubing embedded in the sintered bronze mounted on your hull. This is where the heat exchange takes place, removing the heat completely from the refrigerant and not into the vessel. No pump! No fan! No noise! The keel-cooler must be mounted within 5' of the compressor.
