Description
Sika® MultiPrimer Marine is used to improve adhesion to various metals such as aluminium, steel, galvanised steel and non-ferrous metals, as well as teak, mahogany, oregon pine and cork. The primer can also be used to enhance the adhesion of Sikasil® sealants and adhesives. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions and conduct tests on the original substrates before using Sika® MultiPrimer Marine on substrates with cracking tendencies. Sika® MultiPrimer Marine is suitable for experienced users only. Experiments should be carried out under real conditions and with real substrates to confirm the adhesion and compatibility of the material.
APPLICATION METHOD
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and dirt.
Adhesion may be improved by combining or adding substrate preparation procedures such as sanding, cleaning and activation prior to primer application.
Application
Apply a thin but covering coat of Sika® MultiPrimer Marine with a brush, felt, lint-free cloth or sponge tool.
Sika® MultiPrimer Marine exhibits thermoplastic behaviour for up to 3 days after application. Therefore exposure to high temperatures or early application of tension to the substrate where the application has been made should be avoided.
The ideal substrate and ambient temperature range is between 15 °C and 25 °C.
Sika® MultiPrimer Marine should be applied to the substrate in one pass. Care should be taken to ensure that this one application ensures sufficient coverage. The consumption and method of application will depend on the specific nature of the substrates.
Tightly reseal the container immediately after each use.
